Dick, If you use dry screws and plywood washers you can carefully screw down into the sheer clamp right near the edge of the plywood, r e a l careful. After everything is set unscrew the screws and round over the edge a lot. It's just as easy to use the ring nails and round them over with a mill file if desired, a belt sander sounds mighty dicey, but I'm a chicken with anything more sophisticated than a r.o. sander.
