I little varience in unavaoidable i think, or least to hard to achieve that its not worth seeking perfection. however, there is no need for a finish blade, u will be fairing the surface smooth anyway. using a "ripping blade- thin kerf" will reduce the heat build up and may even make it easier to keep the board on the fence.

ps, how long is your fence- puting a 4-6foot planed board fence addition may help. I think Rehd had some good pics-post about that once. Check the archives.
