In Response To: S&G: CLC Deck Fastening (Dick Lemke)
I used the standard method for attaching the deck. Then I noticed that my gage hadn't worked that well (or I hadn't) and my fasteners were quite a bit out of line. I used a ROS to sand off the heads on the biggest offenders, set what was left, filled/covered the hole with the best epoxy/filler color match I could get and put new ring nails in where they were supposed to be. These were just for looks at this point since everything was glued tight.
So, to answer your question, I think once the epoxy is set, you could sand off the tops of whatever fasteners you use, leaving a brass (or better, silicon bronze) "pin" exposed for a nice effect.
