Precut your lumber into three inch wide boards first, if the lumber is over four inches. This allows you to cut with more control over the board. Use a feather board just in front of the blade. With a thin kerf blade you will get 8 pieces and with a regular blade 7. I set my distance at 1/4 inch plus a 32nd. With a Freud thin kerf blade I get a good surface so I need only to pass the strip through a thickness planer on one side only to bring it down to 1/4 inch. Regards Erich.
