I have a very nice mechanism to open the hatches. I have a pull out pin which is sealed with an O-ring. All you see on top of the deck is a 1.5 mm thick ~12mm diameter button which has a wood insert when it is pushed down.

: hull. It's a good arrangement, and it's not hard to open. I did have to
: add pull straps to the hatched though - the finger divot was not enough
: grip to open them after the air has cooled inside.

: They do leak just a few drops, and tightening the bungees helps. I loosen
: them up for travel, and store it with the hatched off.
