I am in my fourth year of moderate use of an Expedition Single that I built using cypress and mahogany on the deck. It was easy to build with and has kept it's beauty with little maintenance. That combination of materials produce a very attractive deck.
Both are heavier than WRC. Never the less, my yak weighs in at less than 50 lbs after fully equiping it with seat, deck lines foot braces,etc.
Being from south Louisiana I simply could not build a watercraft without using cypress. I'd be run out of the state. Having said that, now let us see how long this thread gets with comments about the advantages there of
