: Myrl, I'm in the middle of building a strip deck on a Cormorant 16 S&G hull.
: I cut deck beams for every foot of the boat and screwed them in place to
: use as forms for the deck
: Good Luck. It will look great when you're done.

Hi Dave,
I'm leaning towards somthing that sounds similer, except I was considering leaving (some of?) the deck beams in. I think it will make planking the deck really easy, just glue in place (and look mom no staple holes).
So...
I'd have to temporarily attach the beams to the hull so I can remove it later, I think I have that figured out. Using a gunwhale which is temporarilly screwed to the hull, with the beams attached to the gunwhale. Once the deck is stripped and outside glassed I'd just pop it off, deck, beams, gunwhale and all.
Then I can deal with the inside of the deck.
I wonder if the perminant beams would give enough strength to allow for just putting epoxy on the inside and not epoxy with fiberglass?
Also, I'm considering making laminated Ash beams, where they would be steam bent into shape... Opinions? or alternate methods?
I've quite a bit to go before I have to commit to a method, I've barely have the points plotted to the wood for the hull panels.
cheers,
Myrl
