Bobby-

I did consider it, but remember, a floor joist is designed to handle verticle forces, but not lateral forces, so it would still have a tendency to flex sideways. I went and got two of the straightest pine 1x4's I could find and laminated them together, and that strongback was so straight that the joint down the middle was perfectly center to the plumb line and I was able to line the forms up to the center line. Also it was very sturdy and did not flex side to side.
