Good point. The boat is a Chesapeake 18 that saw 72 days of hard use on the Sea of Cortez. Now I'm trying to fix the dings on the deck and hull. I sanded through the glass to the wood, then laid a new patch of cloth, wetted and filled. When I sanded to fair it in I guess I was disappointed that it was clearly a patch, and I (unreasonably?) wanted my old boat to look brand new again. So I thought, "Should I just re-glass the whole thing?" I found a thread last night that mentioned taking extra care when the original glass is sanded, not to sand the wood too much or a "halo" will result. I sanded too much. I have to admit, it did seem overly simple, the repairs. Now I know why. Any remedies or insight would be great. And I'll lose the vague questioning. Thx.
