If anyone is actually thinking about using a steam process, I would suggest renting a wall paper stripper. It will have a steam tank, hose, and a nozzle end that is about 10" long by about 5" wide and you hold it over the area until what ever is underneath is losened by the steam. They also use a perferating tool. You roll it over the surface and it will cut small holes for the steam to penetrate through to do its job.
If anyone trys this approach for lifting glass, feedback would be appreciated
