One thing to keep in mind is the aspects of a design that work to make it easy to roll may very well be detrimental to it's handling in rough conditions. Rolling benefits from low stability and low volume. Solid handling in rough conditions often benefits from increased volume. At some point you might need to tradeoff performance in one area to gain in another. Optimizing rolling ability may be worthwhile if you are really good at rolling because then the stability in rough conditions can come from you the paddler instead of the boat itself. This will not neccessarily be a relaxing boat, but with skill you can make it do what you want. It is a design decision you will need to make.
