Mike - not sure if they would let it ride for 6 months - but here in Minnesota, the high schools and technical colleges offer classes in general woodworking for adults. Usually evenings - you pay a class fee and then build what you want. As long as you helped pay for the tools at the local school (via school taxes) might as well make use of them. One point - be very careful, as you may wind up being an instructor and between answering all the questions from other "students" - never finish your project.

This might also help speed things up - and once the general hull is laid up and glassed, the remainder of the finishing could take place at your house, as power tools aren' that critical. (sander?)
