John, check out a back issue of Guegeon Bros. (West Systems) EpoxyWorks for an article on how someone made a carbon hood for a race car,,seems to me that if you don't make a female mold then any hood using the existing one will be oversized with stiffening members laying on the exterior. I'm assuming that a large thin molded structure will need ribs of some sort.
