Hi Danno,
Have you thought about building a double for the trips with the kids. If your doing a lot of paddling with a 10 yr old that is the way to go. Lots of room for gear too. And then build the Guillemot for when you get out by yourself and also for your 15yr old to paddle.
I have a 7 year old and thats the route I took a few years back. I built the Guillemot Double for camping with my son and am just putting the finishing touches on a Guillemot so I can spend more quality kayaking time by myself.
The front cockpit of the double is really too high for youngsters to paddle out of, but they can still stick a paddle in once in a while while you do most of the work. Its also so stable that there is no problem with a yougster up front wiggling around and even turning around to talk as you paddle along.
Decissions, decissions.....you will problably end up building a whole fleet as it is contageous.
