Hi Rick,
I couldn't tell by the pics, but if you haven't glassed reinforcement bands under the deck behind the cockpit, you should consider that before you join the deck and hull, as well as any other reinforcement around the cockpit or foredeck. You also mentioned cheek plates. I would definately get those in place 1st and if your running webbing for a backband through the cheek plate, put in the slots and then epoxy seal before you attatch them under the deck. When you get to the point of glassing them in, use a few dabs of hot glue to hold a scrap strip across the deck, then hot glue the cheeck plates to this while checking that things are level, perpendicular to the deck and parallel to each other.

I also like to make cardboard templates at for the bulk heads at this stage, as I usually have them shifted from any of the stations. If your bulk heads fall on a station, then its probably no big deal as you can use the station as a template. Otherwise its easier to trim to fit the template at this stage. Fine tuning of the cardboard template can be done after you join the two.

Finish hatch work 1st as you mentioned.
