Artistically speaking, I think it only gets conflicting in the area close to the sripes. This is assuming the same stripe and wood is on the other side as well?
Here's what I would do. I wouldn't replace the whole thing. I would make a point about a foot back from the one you have which would fix the visual conflict.
I'd taka a knife and scribe the new point. then I would chisel the strip in front with a normal chisel (s) It can't travel beyond the strip so it won't be a big chore. Bring it down enougn to inlay in a new veneer of the matching wood of the deck. That would be fairly painless and easy.
Use 15 min epoxy for the veneer. Apply some on each side and in 5 min or so you have a very sticky epoxy and then burnish it in the cavity.
