The gold colored wood is Port Orford cedar from south-western Oregon. It cuts, planes, and sands very easily, yet takes the resin like a very confused, curly grain. It changes color based on the reflection angle. The wood is very slightly heavier than the western red, but much lighter than the poplar used in the stripe with the redwood. It seems like the P.O. cedar _may_ absorb a bit more resin than the western red.
