I did that for a few strips and it worked great. I had a scrap of plywood from which I cut a larger station, and used wedges to push strips into place.

: You can also soak/steam that section of the strip and then force it in place
: without glue. Go back and glue it after it dries.

Spidey said he used a heat gun (dry hot air only) to good effect. Probably not 100% as effective as steam, but the benefit is that you can glue it right away.
