: Actually the technique works well with bead and cove. It is no more
: challenging than any of the deck inlays - no precise mitering needed. The
: only deviation from the bead&cove is to fit a 'square' strip into the
: discontinuity between the hull and keel at the end of the process. The
: slot for the filler strips of course needs to be cut out with a razor saw.
: Once sanded, the temporary discontinuity blends into a smooth radius
: transition along the entire hull-keel boundary.
: Sometimes, 'hodgpodge' of techniques are in order, even inevitable to make
: things work - considering that 1/4" wood strips have limitations on
: bending and twisting to 2" radius. (Just think of the clash the
: Spitfire engineers experienced trying to semi fit two conflicting and
: awkward parabolic shapes on a fighter wing - using sheet metal -
: hodgepodge had to be :) ).

: The first point looks just like the one I cover on the 'pinched keel' page.
: The other two theoretical approaches look very refreshing too, however, it
: is better to stick with simple technique that works {doesn't require
: a)whole week to do it, b)steam, c)table saw and such to complicate life}.

hi vaclav

i initially responded after looking at your pic

as on its own i did not realize that your strip layout is fitting into an overall strip design - Therefore there is a method to your madness. I wonder if others are getting this point. {i now notice that you actually have been doing that on a few yaks .}

The hodgepodge i was referring was the apparent strip confusion, but it actually works out to a nice approach by continuing the borderline of the deck arrows thru the sheer and becoming the hull/keel transition line between the 2 difficult areas. The keel strip colour also comes up and resolves to the arrows. I presume you do this to the bow too. It's an attractive design and not hodgepodge at all.

the 3 other ways i mentioned are just alternates to what i thought was a make work strip approach.
