I cruised through the website and found some interesting material. For instance, they say "Our primary product is PREMIUM QUALITY BIO-SEAL 192 marine epoxy..." At the end of the same paragraph it says: "2 gallon unit (3:2 mix 1.33 gal A, .66 gal B) $120 plus shipping." Now, using new math, old math, hexadecimal or any other kind, 3:2 does not add up to 1.33:.66! Huge red flag.
In another page it is stated:
"1 gallon of resin wets out:
material sq ft
.75 oz mat 64 square feet
1.5 oz mat 32 square feet
6 oz cloth 90 square feet *******
10 oz cloth 60
18 0z woven roving 40
24 oz woven roving 32
2415 bi-ply 16"
These numbers are really screwy. If 6 oz. cloth wets out at 90 SF/Gal, then 1.5 oz. cloth should wet out at 360 SF/gal or thereabouts.
So, are these typos, and the products are really good? I can't tell from here. But if they can't get the ratios right on paper, how can you expect them to be right in the real world? I have built boats out of high-quality clear floor coating epoxies that you guys probably have never heard of (Sika, Permagile, Neogard) with good results, but I wouldn't risk hundreds of hours of woodworking time to save $20 on epoxy.
: I am also curious about the Bio Seal. I have not found user comments on this
: product in the kayak areas of info. The web page seems to add a lot of
: hype to the products which leads me to a slight sceptisism on my part. You
: can review the product from the link below. I have given thought to
: ordering some to try myself, but have not yet taken that step. If I don't
: get much for feedback on the Bio Seal product, I think my next epoxy order
: will go to Raka.
: Any input is greatly appreciated.
: Thanks.
