Probably the right thing to do. Forget about my folding skeg: a hinge would spoil the waterflow. There is already a pair of runners at the bottom, though, except perhaps on the very first Romaneck yaks (which had no cockpit edge runners either). The yak yaws nevertheless.
The answer should be a series of runners, or a pair of bilge runners cut out of house decoration moldings that have a larger base to be glued.
