Thanks Scott, good to know we're of the same mind when it comes to planes. Western Red Cedar is so fun to chisle and plane... I only use a power tool when I have to. Hey ever try making your own planes? I'm not ready to post a picture yet but I just made a 'Circular' plane so I can bevel the strips on my deck; those strips will be concave. I wanted a store-bought Ship Plane but my wife didn't.

Thanks for the tip on your bevel method; I'll have to try that one too.
