: Dale, I like the looks of your Fin. I may scrap my retractable skeg (not yet
: installed) and make one like yours. I don't like the idea of cluttering up

I talked to Joe and others about it and debated the situation for a while.
After going with the fin I feel it was the right choice. The skeg just gets in the way of storage and it's one more thing to deal with when on the water. The fin has all of the pluses with none of the minuses.
When I set the kayak on the ground it has about 1" of clearance with the fin. I wanted it that way so that if I sat in it on the ground I didn't want it balancing on the fin and causing damage to the kayak.
