It's basically a Stanley 113. Peck Tools calls it a Ship Plane in their Wooden Boat ad.
I like to bevel my strips on the boat so I "need" a circular Rebate plane for the deck strips. The one I made works like the one below except with a slightly curved sole (front to back). I'm waiting for a wood tap/die set so I can mount removable side handles on it. Mine won't be as nice as this one but I expect it to work just fine on softwoods.
