: It's time to think about the coaming ring lip. Are some woods more suitable
: to the bending than others without steaming than others? Or worded another

Jim and Shawns suggestion of using verneers may be the way to go. I used 1/8" thick strips of ash and had no problems at all. very nice stuff to work with. The only minor problem was in cutting the strips at the table saw. It created lots of fine dust, almost smoke like. Also, it was very very hard on my old saw even with a new freud blade on it. Since it was a minor pain to cut these strips I decided to cut extra (enough for 4-5 coamings). Something to think about if you cut your own.
