In Response To: try veneer (Jim Eisenmenger)

It can be frustrating to cut a veneer that thin of consistent thickness, even on a nice, big contractor's table saw. But hardwood suppliers have presawn veneers at very reasonable prices. For instance, Crosscut Hardwoods (Seattle, Portland and Eugene) has several species, around 60" x 6", for $3 each. They are either 1/28" or 1/32", easily bent around any radius that we work with, and can be rippeddown to 1/2" or so for building the coaming lip.

: I agree with Shawn, try 1/16" veneer, available from Constantine's or
: Certainly Wood online. I used strips of 1/16" ash and did not have to
: steam it.
