Nope, not for me.

I seem to remember they did not want the site used as a photo repository, when I read their terms of use.

Ok the following I've already typed in, having re-read it may be a bit much. but I'm unwilling to hit the delete key after typing the mess in.

I guess you could wrap the photos in some simple HTML code here are two examples, one would be for a single large picture and one would put up a bunch of small pictures which when clicked would expand into a single larger picture.

This works on my site. I think the picutes will show individually if they are linked from a site withing geocites. However it may be a byte limit issue as mentioned by an earlier poster.

Both of these assume that the image and the file containing the code have been uploaded (ftped) to the same location on the geocities web server.

Also you will have to go to Yahoo, and set up an account. look under 'my account (?)' on the http://www.yahoo.com web site.

example 1: I'll assume this is uploaded as picture_01.html

This line would be optional, allowing you to put in some text describing the picture

you may of course repeat the line to get more pictures up, but that makes looking at lots of big pictures slow on a slow connection to the internet. If you want more than one or two pictures up, check out example two below. which will use lots of small pictures to speed up a preview, and then when clicked on will jump to the larger picture. Of course then you need to load both a small and a large picture to the web server.

example 2: I'll assume this is uploaded as allphotos.html

>/A>

...etc... add a line between for each picture

option #1 for allphotos.html file: if you don't want a small image as a clickable link, and are happy with a underlined blue text line to link to the pictures use
the lines:

describe first picture
this is a little easier, you don't need to make and upload a small picture

Option#2. If you have created lots of individual picture files with good descriptions as in example "picture_01.html". Then I recommend using either of the two types below. Which will link to your html page with the picture and the description, rather than strait to just a picture

second picture - striping the deck

etc add a line for each html file.

And then in the "picture_01.html", "picture-02.html", etc. Right after the 'optional text part' you may want to add a link back to the photo album with
the line

back to photo album
This is not really required, but is kind of nice.

end of examples.

to include you link in the post then in the 'Optional Link URL' text box type in "http://www.geocities.com/'your_yahoo_id'/picture01.html" or

Alas, I use unix, so I can't give much help on how to actually ftp these files to the geocites server. It should be easy. see if you have an FTP program if so you want to connect to the internet (if you are reading this of course you already are). use google, or yahoo to find a free FTP client program. install it, (good time to check for any virus in the program with an uptodate virus checker) and open ftp.geocities.com with the ftp program. Them copy (unix uses the put or mput commands) to upload the html files and the image files.

It may be alot easier to use some sort of html file editor, like MS Word (with file saved as HTML), page maker, or somthing to generate the files and upload them.

This will of course work on any webserver, not just geocities

Well that was more typing that I originally ment to put in this post. I'm sure many of you already knew most of that, hopfully it will help some one.

cheers

Myrl

PS if you are interested in my site on geocities (which is not much) check out the link below ( hiking, iguana, strip canoe, and my current hybrid sea kayak info). One of these days when I'm done building my personal kayak navy, I'll make the webpages actually nice. right now I try and update my kayak building log as I have time
