I have had good luck with getting 1/16" veneer from Edensaw (www.edensaw.com) here in Seattle. I'm in the process of doing a Spring Run and had a heck of a time tracking down the 1/16" veneer that Joe calls out - especially in the longer lengths needed to do a coaming.

Their Seattle warehouse seems to have a good variety of different veneers. I picked up some ribbon mahogany at $.95/square foot.
