: Somebody else has already implemented this idea ... it's a horrible looking
: contraption! To boot, it also comes in a boat with a horrendous name ...
: it's jokingly called the "Egg-McMuffin" (or something that
: sounds like this) and manufactured by Lincoln Canoe & Kayak in Maine.
: Name notwithstanding, it resembles a "humpback whale" look-alike
: ... good luck with another idea!!
The boat is the "Eggemoggin". The hatch in the foredeck doesn't change the shape at all, in fact it's recessed. It simply provides access to a knee tube installed under the deck. The "Egg" is a large, expedition style boat with a high foredeck. Sandy at Lincoln has received a lot of requests to incorporate the deck hatch into the slimmer "Isle Au Haut". Personally, I think it's a great feature and I'm surprised more companies don't offer it.
