Hi Hans, agreed on all points,,still I wonder about the rudder sustaining damage positioned vertically. A boat tossed to shore can be emptied only one way quickly, lifted by the bow upside down.
Amazing isn't it that the technology for rudders on sea kayaks is such an add on process, it can't be that hard to have a rudder that doesn't provide entanglements or impediments compared to a non-ruddered boat in all aspects of use.
