Two days ago we finally starting laying strips on the hull of our Guillemot Double. We had several issues to settle with our uncooperative strongback but we got everything lined up and now we are rolling. The students are very excited, learning lots and having a great time building. We are all very happy that we will have another boat to add to our fleet for our end of year class field trip to the shores of the Saint John River. If you would like to take a look at our progress, click on the link below and then look for 'kayak building'. One of my former students has graciously built a web site for me. He is certainly more computer savy than I ever will be. We will keep you posted on our progress and probably have a question or two. On behalf of the students I would like to thank Nick for writing an excellent book on kayak building. Without such a valuable resource our project would not exist. Thank you Nick.
