Virtually everyone uses a balanced (or nearly balanced) cloth on strippers as well as S&G’s. Some make the most of their cloth by laying the warp at a small angle to the centerline – so as to get more coverage per yard. If one were to use “warp cloth”, which has significantly more fiber in the long direction of the roll, then it would be wise to lay it with the warp across the center line (across the wood grain). But that adds in a bunch of lap joints which would be tedious to deal with on the exterior.
