: Looks like it is available in 36 inch width. Why not cover the whole bottom
: of the hull with one piece, and the deck with another. For that matter,
: why not put some over a layer of dacron or canvas for a nice waterproof,
: UV resistant skin for an SOF? It should be very easy to patch minor tears
: -- just apply another layer of tape a few inches larger than the tear.

: Just a thought.

I have been using the Urethane tape on my keels and along the sheer for years . It works well. It would be very hard to apply in wide sections as it is hard to get the tape down without trapping air. I use it at 3/4" wide. It will lift the paint underneath when removed, although it has not lifted varnish.3M has an adheasion promoter which will make it stick better. Without the promoter I had trouble keeping the tape on in cold temperatures (below 25 degrees F) when I pulled the boat over ice or snow. It is very tuff stuff. It usally stays on the boat for a couple of years before I decide to replace it.You can get it in a couple of thicknesses. It is very expensive!!! I would doubt if you could get it to stick to a skin boat ????
