: I am trying to find a Canadian source of cord suitable for lashing a skin on
: frame kayak. I can get artificial sinew in tiny lots at an exorbitant
: price. I found that Lee Valley Tools has a variety of whipping cord, and
: utility cord at much more reasonable prices.
: The choices are
: 1) Whipping cord that is described in the catalogue as polyester fibre with
: beeswax coating at 40 or 100 lb. test.
: 2) Utility cord described as braided nylon cord at 45lb test, 96 lb test or
: 190 lb. test.
: Do any of these sound suitable for lashing the frame? Does anyone have any
: suggestions for other materials for lashing? I tried our local tackle
: stores for seining twine, but it seems to be a coastal thing as it is not
: at all available here. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Liz,
Send me your physical address and I'll send you enough of the artificial sinew to do a boat or two I just finished my boat and I've enough left to do another.
Bob
