That expresses the root of what I was trying to say better, and in a lot fewer words :-) GDP is no longer what the US uses as the basis for calculating "Gross Product" (The change was made for lots of reasons, both good and bad). It now uses GNP ("N" meaning "National") and has been for the past 10 years or so. I cannot say if Canada has made the same change, but kinda doubt it, because its business interests are less "international". The difference between "Domestic" and "National" in this case means it includes income from international US corporate operations, while deducting that of corporations of other nations operating here (such as Japan and Germany). Not sure of any other important differences in calculating things with this method. By the way being affected by a neighbor "down" south" isn't limited to Canada. I live in Southern California and I cannot over estimate how much impact the literally millions of mostly illegal immigrants pouring over the border make every day!! It is not about "race" either, not all the effect of having an unregulated flow of poor illegals, whose health care is now paid for by taxes is a good thing. Every body's got their own problems as well as blessin's.
