Rich,

I can only tell my experience of just the one time. I did this and glued with "titebond" right after I took the strips from the steamer. It worked just fine (for me) and I did some "check" strips to break later and the bond I got was a good one. I have heard that this is not good to do and that advise does make sense to me, but I ignored it this time and had an easy and good result. Good luck.
