: I've decided some of the strips on the 'Cape Ann' I am building will benefit
: from a little steam before bending. Will I be able to glue as soon as they
: come out of the steamer and are fitted to the hull or will the wet surface
: cause the glue to not stick? I am using Elmers Carpenters Wood Glue.
Hi Rich,
If your glue is water based it should work ok, just take a little longer to dry, so leave the clamps on. However, If the wood your using swells a lot when steamed, then for a good result it'd have to be a fairly uniform swelling. If the swelling is uneven, then so will the drying be uneven, thats gotta be bad news. This could show up down the track. As long as your aware of whats happening it should be a fairly easy work-around.
Oh, and Steve, stop SHOUTING, it's not like we're on the other side of the planet.
Cheers,
Paul (in Australia)
