I'm ready to cut a hole in my deck for the outlet pipe of the Bosworth Guzzler bilge pump I've mounted on my forward bulkhead. I've taken Pete Roszyk's suggestion and will use a template for the hole based upon a cross-section of the ABS pipe cut at the proper angle. Then I'll glue the pipe in position through the deck using thickened epoxy. I'll then need to cut the pipe flush to the outside of the deck.

I'm aware of two different styles of flush cutting hand saws: the English offset style with a stiff blade, which I believe cuts on a push stroke; and the Japanese style, some of which are flexible and all cut on the pull stroke. I'm attracted to the Japanese flush cutting pull saw, but I'd appreciate some thoughts or recommendations from the board before I dive into this project.

Once the pipe is in place and trimmed flush, I'll clean it up and get my boat varnished -- finally!
