You might want to check out the VOLKSKAYAK series, especially the Big Guy and the Sumo. These are stitch and glue kayaks, easy to build, light and very stable. Gerry Gladwin of Whynot Boats in Greenfield, Nova Scotia designs them, has plans and kits available, and runs a series of building workshops each summer. He can be reached at www.volkskayak.com
