I'm getting ready to start stripping the deck of my Cape Ann. The design is all worked out except for one thing, the compass. I'd like to know the thoughts of the board on mounting a compass to the deck. I've seen a couple of S&G boats with that feature and it looked kinda cool. I'm not sure though if it's really good way to go or not. I don't have a lot of sea experience and I may be missing something here.
I did a search on the internet for Kayak Compasses and I came up with Suunto Orca Kayak compass. It seems to be the standard removable compass for sea kayaking. Have any of you had any experience with it and are there other more appropriate ones for mounting.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
