I gotta suunto orca

Yo

My brother got me a suunto orca clip on from a boat show and he got me a good deal on the price. I specified black (didn't like the yellow one at all).

I like it alot. I just clip it onto my deck rigging. It has a soft base which moulds to the pitch of my guillemot s&G. Sometimes it sits a little awkwardly when I jam my spare paddle through the rigging, but nothing that can't be adjusted with a tweak from the cockpit.

That is not to say it moves all over the place, only at the beggining when I settle down to paddling and notice the lubber line is skew-wiff. It sits securely through out the journey.

Being impetuous I wanted on the water and had no time for a finely crafted permanent mount. I also liked the idea of having the compass removable so it didn't get knocked about when lying in the sun or stored upside down. So, for me the suunto orca was a good thing to have.

Most of my kayaking is close to shore and in good weather, so I haven't used it much other than to figure what the wind is up to.

Cheers and happy kayaking
Pete
