hi chip,
just some random thoughts, no answers or right way to respond:
-what is is about that board that you like? will that/those characteristics be retained if you cut it into small diamonds? Since the wood has strong character, is it a contradiction to put it in a figured and detailed strip? Is there any way it can stand on its own and be contrasted by the detailed strips? Could you then semi match(hull and deck) the detail strips as a counterfoil or outline or separator to the nice wood?
-is the board long enough for half length of yr yak. Is it thick enough to be bookmatched?like for the bow only. is it thick enought to be double bookmatched. match at bow and stern
-i can't tell onl the board but it looks as if the grain goes slightly from one side to the other. sorta like the left half of a bow of a yak. what if you bookmatched it, ripped it in parallel strips and laid it parallel to the c/l(like all these strips parallel so you can see the jump of grain) on the deck(stern also if poss), separated by different dimension lighter hull strips sometimes and maybe another matched detail strip repetitions, so that the grain follows the bow and from strip to separator to next strip it continues across the gap.
some possibilities, a million right answers
-mick
