: maybe this is one of those things where he may not have done the exact
: process you are asking with the exact materials so the recommendations are
: approximations and estimates given variables of temps. Wouldn't it be
: worth making a couple test panels of your own so you can be sure before
: starting with a completed hull?
No that's not an answer for this.
"he may not have done the exact process you are asking with the exact materials"
WHAT ??? He knew the facts and this is no unusual situation for his products. Your answer is basically that he may not have used CPES as a seal coat on raw wood and covered it with epoxy. This makes no sense and anyway it is no explaination to my question. Dr. Rot did not say "I have never done this or I have never done that" He says very plainly "Yeah, what you want to do is no problem, I do it all the time and my product works GREAT. Then he goes on to describe 2 compleletly DIFFERENT and mutually exclusive methods for the same products and situation.
Not down on you for your answer, just would like a better chance at a accurate answer. And yeah who can argue with test panels for anything, but other than some sort of bubbling right away they would not tell any long term effects and I am just about ready to start this part now. How would test panels help unless there was some immediate failure and I don't think that is the problem but that is no point here. The points are:
Why does he say it is important ot wait 2 days or more in one answer and only 2 or 3 hours in another (same question, same facts and he knew them and they were not hard or unusual). Maybe it is something else I am missing here. No big deal just that think there are a lot of doers and thinkers here and sure would like to see if anyone has a real answer to offer here. If not I'll keep looking and if I can't find an answer here I'll ask him again, though I would rather know more about it first.
