In Response To: S&G: Chesapeake 16 (wolfgang)
: Hi,
: I am planning to build a chesapeake 16 and use lauan for budged reasons.
: I will use 1/4" lauan for the botton panels and 1/8" lauan for the
: sides and deck with a 8 foot long and 2" wide 1/8" lauan
: "stringer" as a reeinforcement on the side panels
I did something similar on a CC18, but the "stringers" were wide enough to cover all the area between the fillets. My deck is 1/8", and too soft. I would do as you suggest next time, unless I was going to use the boat in the sea where you can expect rock impact damage.
