I guessing this is both of us coming at the same thing in different directions. With respect to external forms, its not that one needs to neessarily build a seperate set of forms or two sets of strong back bases. (All though we have done that too.) Its just that the forms have to be turned above the base and reset, or taken off the strong back and reset, so what ever your working on top and bottom are facing up. We have built some boats with seperate deck forms and hull forms. Essentially making two seperate strong backs.

Mating them later in cradles. Mating them is a whole 'nother ball of wax. I figure Eric will get to that point soon enough.

Another way is to hot glue the deck stations back into hull right side up and strip on that. This is very common in hybrids. S&G hulls and strip decks. In fact, I've got a boat in progress being build in this fashion. First time I've tried it.

Having said that that's what happens in this saw dust makers corner. I am well aware there are a million way to do the same thing in other boat shops. Heck that's half the fun of this BBS is learning from other folks. Sounds like you've got something different that works. Let us know how you do it? I'm always looking to scarf good ideas.
