Yeah I know a guy who used an old ladderback to build a leech trough for soap making. Used a shower curtian to line it. Tipped it slightly. He'd pile up the ash Collect the rain in another trough. let the rain flow in the high side and let it leach at the lower end he'd collect the lye. Strong back and even stronger soap! :)
