That makes sense, I've only had that problem when I was too lazy to sharpen the proper tool for the job. I guess the whole idea of using a rabbet plane for broader applications doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't think I would round the corners of my 3110 blade; I'd rather train myself to use it properly. It's amazing how quickly you learn when the consequences mean days of extra work The 3110 gouging came in real handy for carving this detail on my paddle (below). I shaped the whole transition using the Clifton 3110.
