: I know that most people end up using the standard "X" in a box
: arrangement of bungie cord for holding the paddle perpendicular to the
: kayak. I was wondering what other designs are out there.
: One problem seems to be yanking the paddle out after re-entry and
: re-attaching the spray skirt. In rough conditions, this can be hard to do.
: Has anyone come up with a quick-release set up for just lifting the paddle
: off the rear deck---instead of trying to pull it out sideways? Other
: ideas?
: Thanks!
I am really going to butcher this explaination of the system I think I will put on my kayak. Someone on the board showed an illistration and I have lost the information and their name. Picture two ropes fastened to the deck in a narrow V with a 1" dia. dowell rod 2" long with a hole at each end for each leg of the V rope to slide in. As you pull the dowell towards the pointed part of the V the ropes loosen so you can slip you paddle under them, and when you pull the dowell toward the wide part of the V and the rope tightens up holding the paddle. I'm sure others can explain this much better.
