: OK, first step is getting the Okoume home from the beach. Since I need a
: couple of sheets of construction grade plywood anyway for various setup
: purposes, I was thinking of getting two sheets to carry down in the truck.
: I can sandwich the Okoume between them and use a combination of bungees,
: clamps, bricks, rope, or whatever to keep it held together. Does that
: sound like a good plan? Any better ideas?
: Thanks,
: Patsy
I transported 4 sheets of 1/4" laun plywood 30 miles on the top of my car and drove 55 mph most of the way. I layed a 2'x4'x1/2" blue foam scrap on my roof so I wouldn't scratch it. I put the plywood on top with only about 6" extending in front of the roof so the wind wouldn't get under it and yet I could see that it was staying in place. I opened the 4 doors of my car and put one web strap with a ratchet tightener in front and back and tightened them down into a curve tightly and the doors would close over the straps OK. Then I took two more web straps and looped them together to make a long length and run it over the plywood from front to rear and fastened a length of the heavy black rubber hold downs from the front and rear bumper area to the web straps. It worked very well.
