I've been using a cabinet scraper for smoothing epoxy and finishing off with sandpaper and steel wool.The hand scraper works fast and takes a lot of meat off in a delicate area as you don't want to be grinding into the cloth too much.
I think any power tool at this point is overkill and you could end up making a mess.
